Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia Districts of Assam and covers an area of 111.19 km2 (42.93 sq mi) rainforest.[1] It is part of the Assam valley tropical wet evergreen forest and consists of three parts: Jeypore, upper Dihing River and Dirok rainforest.



Recently a news of Dehing Patkai has threatened the all naturist and the people of Assam. The news was that recently the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has permitted Coal India Limited to start extraction in 98.59 hectares of land at Dehing Patkai in Saleki– an Elephant Reserve area

The news of coal mining  creates a massive impact in the people of Assam. They are protesting in all possible ways. In now a days protesting through social media is said to be a best way. The NBWL’s standing committee had discussed the proposal for use of 98.59 hectares of land of Saleki, proposed for a coal mining project by North Eastern Coal Field (NECF) — a unit of Coal India Limited— and gave nod to it.


In the  war against coal mining in Dehing patkai celebrities are also responded to it. They are also opposing this step which has taken by govt. They also criticised govt. for that. Famous singer and songwriter Papon tweeted that "The world spoke about the fire in the Amazon,and now what about the amazon of the East in India? Why is it difficult to understand that the forests are most important for our own good! #savedihingpatkai 🙏🏼 " .







 In support of him the famous Actor 'Adil Hussain' also tweeted about it. He tweeted that " I stand by you @paponmusic I am flabbergasted why would the Authorities allow such destruction to take place when we are to move away from conventional energy towards alternative solutions? Please stop this coal mining at #DehingPatkai #savedihingpatkai 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽"




One of Adil Hussain's tweet on Dehing patkai was also been retweeted by famous bollywood actor Randeep Hooda who was recently acted in the famous Netflix movie 'Extraction' . He also takes part in this movement against this coal mining act.



In viewing of the current situation the Chief Minister of Assam Shree Sarbananda Sonowal responded to this matter. He ordered environment and forest minister parimal sukloboiddo to visit in the Rainforest for taking stock of the current situation. He moreover ensures that his government is committed to protect the environment and biodiversity while developing Assam. He said this in his social media handle.
