India's first ever underwater road tunnel is going to be built on the Brahmaputra River.

The Central Government has approved a 14.85 km long road tunnel under Brahmaputra River. This will connect Assam and Arunachal Pradesh with a great extent.




As per reports - when the work of this tunnel will complete, this road tunnel will be longer than the Tunnel which is situated under Taihu Lake of East China.


The Central Government has approved to build 4 lane road  tunnel under the Brahmaputra river to connect between  Gohpur (NH52) and Numaligargh (NH37). This tunnel will also connect Assam and Arunachal Pradesh with a great extent.


National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHAIDCL) has approved the project report submitted by the American Infrastructure and development company Louis Berger.




The American company Louis Berger has prepared prepared a pre figibility report and DPR for making the 14.85 km long road tunnel under the Brahmaputra river


This tunnel will also be very helpful for the armed forces because from this tunnel the vehicles of armed forces with  fully weapons equipped can go through at the speed 60 kmp/h.


This  work of this road tunnel under the river Brahmaputra maybe going to start from this December.
